Looking for a housemate in Ghent – Join our new cohousing!

Have you ever dreamed of living in a beautiful house with thoughtful, like-minded people? Then this might be just what you’re looking for.

Together with two friends, I’m starting a new cohousing project in Ghent. We’ve found a recently renovated townhouse full of charm and potential, and we’re looking for a fourth housemate to complete our group.

The house

It’s a spacious, energy-efficient (label B+) townhouse with:

Four full-sized bedrooms (18–20 m² each)

One additional smaller room — perfect as a guest room, office, or hobby space

Two bathrooms

Two kitchens

A large attic with solid beams that’s inspiring all kinds of creative ideas!

🏡 Location: Koning Albertlaan, Ghent — just a 5-minute bike ride from Gent-Sint-Pieters station and 7 minutes from the city center.

💶 Rent: €2200 total, which comes to €550 per person with four people.

📅 Available: From July 1, 2025

Who we’re looking for

We’re hoping to find someone who shares similar values and wants to build a supportive and respectful home together. That means:

You’re open-minded and value diversity

You’re communicative and considerate of others

You’re aware of and respectful toward mental health and neurodiversity

You contribute to a calm and safe living environment

Ideally, you’re not in your twenties — not because you’re not welcome, but because the three of us are all 40+ and tend to have a different life rhythm

Interested?

If this sounds like a good fit for you — or if you’re curious and want to know more — send an email to amedee@vangasse.eu.

Not for you, but know someone who might be interested? Feel free to share this post!

Let’s turn this house into a home — together.

Unboxing the Ghent box (video in Dutch)

Last month I moved from Merelbeke to Ghent. I registered my new address on the government website, and last week I was invited to update my eID with my new address.

I made an appointment with one of the administrative centers of the city. The entire process took less than 5 minutes, and at the end I got a welcome gift: a box with a lot of information about the city services.

It’s been a while since I last did an unboxing video. The audio is in Dutch, maybe if I’m not too lazy (and only if people ask for it in the comments) I’ll provide subtitles.
